Get Involved – Stay Connected – Sustain Your Legacy
The Terrapin Club and M Club are excited to announce the launching of a new collaborative program created for alumni student-athletes – The Pay It Forward Program – which gives former Maryland athletes a new avenue to get involved, stay connected and help sustain the legacy they helped create at the University of Maryland.
This important new initiative was created with the input of the Student-Athlete Committee, a newly formed group made up of former student-athletes and volunteers looking to generate innovative approaches that engage former student-athletes. The Pay It Forward campaign is designed to give former student-athletes the opportunity to make an important investment in their program. It also encourages former student-athletes to continue to play a vital role and ensure the success of their team in the future.
Legendary college football coach Woody Hayes was once said, “You can never pay back, but you can always pay forward”. He was paraphrasing writer Ralph Waldo Emerson and was echoing the concept of perpetuating the good deed or support that one received to the next generation. Now, the next generation of Terps is competing with that same passion and pride and now our proud alumni can again make their mark and make a difference by Paying It Forward for current and future student-athletes.
Maryland Athletics recognizes the important role our former student-athletes played in building one of the most respected athletic departments in the country. As part of our rich history as an athletics program they played with passion and proudly represented their team and the University while making their mark as a Terp!
This is an opportunity for the University of Maryland and our outstanding student-athlete alumni to be national leaders in creating a culture of support by former student-athletes.
By participating in Pay It Forward former student-athletes will receive the following:
• Full Terpoint credit for 100% of your gift – helping you obtain priority seating, postseason tickets and a host of other benefits for a number of sports.
• Make an immediate impact on the team because 80% of your gift goes directly to your team’s Friends Of account
• Inspire fellow former student-athletes to become involved with their respective teams.
• Receive a complimentary membership in Maryland’s letterwinners organization, the M Club for the years in which you make “Pay It Forward” gifts.
• Receive membership in the Terrapin Club annual fund (at a level commensurate with 20% of your Pay It Forward contribution)
