Don Miller was hired as a director of major gifts for Maryland Athletics in October 2006. Prior to that Don served as a major gifts officer in the University of Maryland Central Development office. Don’s focus is on capital projects, scholarships, endowments and raising unrestricted cash gifts for athletics.
Miller began his employment at Maryland in 2004 coming from Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland where he was their director of development. He was instrumental in the school’s recent building campaign, helping secure over $4m for the new school in Olney, Maryland.
Miller earned his B.S. degree in 1976 from the University of Maryland, College Park. He graduated from Good Counsel High School in 1972, where he also served as their boys head varsity basketball coach from 1978 – 1981.
He resides in Olney, Maryland with his wife, Mariann, and 2 children, Steve and Colleen. Mariann graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1978 and serves as an ombudsman for FINRA. Steve graduated in May 2008 with a degree in finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business. He is employed as a financial project manager by SAIC and is earning his MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. Colleen ’09 graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a major in government and politics. Colleen currently attends the University of Baltimore School Of Law.
